These are N scale 3D printable files for the AMTK Gallery Cab Car — a unique and prototype-specific car representing a former Chicago & North Western Railway Pullman Plan W60346 96-Seat Gallery Coach, originally built for CNW's long-distance "400" series passenger trains and later acquired by AMTK, which converted a small number of these cars into cab control cars 9621–9624 for push-pull commuter service.

The Pullman Plan W60346 was a 96-seat bi-level gallery coach built for the Chicago & North Western's celebrated 400 series of named passenger trains — a family of streamlined intercity services that connected Chicago with destinations across Wisconsin, Minnesota, and the upper Midwest, named for their ambitious scheduling that aimed to cover 400 miles in 400 minutes. The gallery car configuration — with its distinctive open upper gallery overlooking the lower deck — gave the CNW's 400 trains a unique and modern appearance that set them apart from conventional single-level intercity equipment, and the 96-seat capacity reflected the intercity service's balance between comfort and capacity.

When AMTK assumed operation of most American intercity passenger rail service in 1971, it inherited or acquired equipment from the predecessor railroads, including CNW gallery cars that found new roles in the AMTK fleet. Recognizing the utility of the gallery car design for push-pull commuter operations, AMTK's mechanical department converted a small number of the former CNW coaches into cab control cars — adding an engineer's cab at one end to enable push-pull operation where a locomotive pushes the train from the rear while the engineer controls it from the cab car at the front. The resulting AMTK 9621–9624 were a tiny fleet of just four cars, making them among the most prototype-specific and rarely modeled equipment in the AMTK roster.

A fascinating subject that bridges two distinct eras of American passenger railroading — the CNW's proud intercity 400 service and the early years of AMTK's effort to build a national passenger rail system from the remnants of the private railroad era.
