These are 1/72 scale decals for Bell UH-1A Iroquois 57-6095, assigned to the U.S. Army Transportation Corps.
The UH-1A was the first production variant of the Bell Iroquois — the helicopter that would define U.S. Army aviation for a generation. Powered by the Lycoming T53 turboshaft, the HU-1A (as it was originally designated) introduced turbine power to the Army's rotary-wing fleet and set the stage for everything that followed. Serial 57-6095 represents an early-production airframe from the initial delivery batch, wearing the standard olive drab scheme of the period.
The Transportation Corps was the Army branch responsible for managing aviation assets in the pre-Vietnam era, before the establishment of the Aviation Branch in 1983. Early Iroquois airframes like this one wore the Transportation Corps' distinctive wheel-and-rail branch insignia, marking them as part of the Army's first generation of turbine-powered utility helicopters — a lineage that would grow into the most widely used military helicopter in history.
A great subject for any early U.S. Army aviation collection, and a fine companion to the TH-1A and other early Iroquois family listings. Please allow some time for decal printing and shipping.
