These are 1/72 scale decals for Boeing B-50A Superfortress 46-013, assigned to the 96th Bombardment Squadron, 401st Bombardment Group, 28th Bombardment Wing, Strategic Air Command.

The B-50A was a substantially upgraded evolution of the B-29, featuring more powerful Pratt & Whitney R-4360 Wasp Major engines, a taller fin, strengthened structure, and improved systems — enough of a departure that Boeing initially designated it the B-29D before the Air Force recognized it as a new type entirely. Entering service in 1948, the B-50 bridged the gap between the piston-era Superfortress and the all-jet bombers that would follow, serving as SAC's primary nuclear delivery platform in the critical early years of the Cold War before the B-36 and B-47 arrived in numbers.

The 28th Bombardment Wing was one of SAC's premier heavy bombardment organizations, based at Ellsworth AFB, South Dakota, and tasked with the nuclear strike mission against the Soviet Union during the most dangerous years of the early Cold War. The 401st Bombardment Group and its component 96th Bombardment Squadron were part of this force, flying the B-50A in the natural metal finish standard to SAC's early jet and late piston bomber fleet.

A great subject for any SAC or early Cold War bomber collection. Please allow some time for decal printing and shipping.
