These are 1/72 scale decals for Boeing (Douglas) SB-17G 44-83575, assigned to the 1st Air Rescue Squadron, Military Air Transport Service (MATS), United States Air Force.

The SB-17G was a search and rescue conversion of the B-17G Flying Fortress, modified to carry an airborne lifeboat that could be dropped to survivors at sea. Stripped of its offensive armament and fitted with rescue equipment, the SB-17G gave the newly independent Air Force a long-range over-water rescue capability in the late 1940s and early 1950s.

The 1st Air Rescue Squadron was one of the pioneering units of what would become a proud USAF rescue tradition, operating under Military Air Transport Service to recover downed aircrews and civilians across vast stretches of ocean. These crews embodied the rescue motto "That Others May Live" — flying the venerable Flying Fortress in one of its most humanitarian postwar roles.
