These are 1/72 scale decals for Boeing VC-137C 72-7000 — SAM 27000 — assigned to the 89th Airlift Wing at Andrews AFB, Maryland, wearing the iconic primary Air Force One livery featuring Robin's Egg blue upper surfaces, polished metal lower fuselage, the Presidential seal on the forward fuselage, and "United States of America" titling.
SAM 27000 assumed the primary Air Force One role in 1972 and served as the principal presidential transport for over three decades, carrying every President from Richard Nixon through George W. Bush. It witnessed some of the most consequential moments of the late Cold War and post-Cold War era — Nixon's historic opening to China, the fall of the Berlin Wall under Bush, and the solemn flights that followed national tragedies. Where its predecessor SAM 26000 defined the Kennedy era, SAM 27000 defined the long arc from Vietnam to the War on Terror.
The livery — the soft Robin's Egg blue cheatline, the Presidential seal, and the "United States of America" fuselage titling — was designed by industrial designer Raymond Loewy at President Kennedy's personal request for SAM 26000, and carried forward unchanged onto SAM 27000, cementing it as one of the most enduring and recognized liveries in aviation history. Includes two marking options for serial 27000, plus Presidential seal, USAF titling, and full supporting markings.
Now preserved at the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library in Simi Valley, California. An essential subject for any presidential aviation, VIP transport, or Cold War collection, and a natural companion to the SAM 26000 listings. Please allow some time for decal printing and shipping.
