These are 1/72 scale decals for Boeing XB-47 46-065, the first prototype of the revolutionary Stratojet, United States Air Force.
The XB-47 was one of the most significant aircraft in aviation history. When it first flew on December 17, 1947 — exactly 44 years after the Wright Brothers' first flight — it introduced a radical combination of swept wings, podded jet engines, and a bicycle-style landing gear that would define the look of jet aircraft for generations. Boeing's engineers had drawn heavily on captured German aeronautical research to produce a design that was breathtakingly advanced for its time.
The two XB-47 prototypes demonstrated performance that far exceeded anything previously achieved by an American bomber, paving the way for the production B-47 Stratojet and ultimately influencing the design of the Boeing 707 and virtually every swept-wing jet that followed. Modeling the XB-47 prototype is a tribute to one of the true turning points in the history of aviation.
