These are N scale 3D printable files for the Bombardier Shoreliner I Coach — the original Shoreliner commuter coach built by Bombardier for Northeast corridor commuter rail service, and the predecessor to the later Shoreliner II represented in the companion listing from Out of the Box Models. Available in two decal variants: Metro-North Railroad (MNCR) and Connecticut Department of Transportation (CDOT).
The Shoreliner I was built by Bombardier as a single-level commuter coach for the dense passenger corridors of the New York metropolitan area and Connecticut, designed for push-pull operation with a locomotive at one end and a cab car at the other for efficient terminal operations. The Shoreliner I established the design lineage that would be refined and updated in the later Shoreliner II, and the two generations of cars served side by side on the Connecticut shoreline corridor for many years.
The two decal variants represent the primary operators on the Connecticut corridor:
- MNCR — Metro-North Railroad: the cars in Metro-North livery, operated on Metro-North's New Haven Line between New York Grand Central Terminal and New Haven, Connecticut — one of the busiest commuter rail lines in North America, running along the Connecticut shoreline that gives the Shoreliner its name.
- CDOT — Connecticut Department of Transportation: the cars in CDOT livery, representing the state of Connecticut's ownership of equipment operated on the New Haven Line and other Connecticut commuter services.
