Budd Big Dome — Modified, Set 2 (AUCX / HALX / NYSW / SKTX)

These are N scale 3D printable files for the Budd Big Dome as modified and operated by various railroads and operators — the second set of cars from the Santa Fe Railway (ATSF) 550–555 series, complementing the companion listing covering the ATSF 506–513 series cars. All four variants trace their origins to ATSF Big Dome cars that went on to remarkable second careers after their Santa Fe service. Available in four decal variants: AUCX 510–515, HALX 551, 553 and 554, NYSW 502 and 504, and SKTX 551 and 554.

The Budd Big Dome was the Santa Fe Railway's full-length dome car — distinct from the Great Northern's Great Dome and the Milwaukee Road's Super Dome — featuring an expansive upper-level glass dome running nearly the full length of the car. After their ATSF careers on trains including the Super Chief and El Capitan, these cars were acquired and modified by a variety of subsequent operators:

• AUCX 510–515 — Auto-Train Corporation: Former ATSF Big Domes modified and renumbered by the Auto-Train Corporation for use on its overnight automobile-carrying service between Lorton, Virginia and Sanford, Florida, serving as lounge and entertainment cars on the celebrated Auto-Train consist. • HALX 551, 553 and 554 — Holland America Westours: Former ATSF Big Domes acquired by Holland America Westours for its Alaska tourist train operations, showcasing the spectacular scenery of the Alaska Range to cruise passengers traveling between Anchorage and Fairbanks — one of the most scenically dramatic assignments ever given to a passenger car.
• NYSW 502 and 504 — New York Susquehanna & Western Railway: Former ATSF Big Domes operated by the New York Susquehanna & Western Railway on excursion and special passenger services, representing the even-numbered cars of the NYSW Big Dome fleet alongside the odd-numbered NYSW 501 and 503 in the companion listing.
• SKTX 551 and 554 — Ski Train / Rio Grande Scenic Railroad: Former ATSF Big Domes operated on the famous Ski Train over the Colorado Rockies, carrying skiers from Denver to Winter Park through the Moffat Tunnel — a spectacular mountain railroad assignment perfectly suited to the full-length dome design.
