Budd Great Dome Theatre Car BN 24

These are N scale 3D printable files for the Burlington Northern Railroad (BN) Budd Great Dome Theater Car #24 — a former Great Northern Railway (GN) Great Dome car converted by BN into a theater car for use on the Burlington Northern's executive business train, represented here in its original BN service in two livery variants: BN 24 Cascade Green and BN 24 Executive Scheme.

The car began its life as a Budd Great Dome built for the Great Northern Railway, where it served on the flagship Empire Builder between Chicago and Seattle/Portland, passing through Glacier National Park and the Cascade Mountains. After the 1970 merger of the Great Northern into the Burlington Northern Railroad, the car was converted by BN into a theater car through a distinctive modification: the B end of the carbody was replaced by a large panoramic window, and the lower level interior was fitted with tiered, rear-facing theater-style seating arranged to face that window — giving passengers a dramatic cinema-style view of the receding track and landscape behind the moving train. Combined with the full-length dome above, the conversion created a car with two complementary viewing experiences: the sweeping panorama of the dome level and the dramatic rear-facing theater perspective below.

The two decal variants represent the car in two distinct BN liveries during its Burlington Northern service career:

• BN 24 Cascade Green — the car in Burlington Northern's signature Cascade Green livery, the deep green color scheme that became the defining visual identity of the BN system following the 1970 merger.
• BN 24 Executive Scheme — the car in BN's executive business train livery, the more formal color scheme applied to the railroad's business train fleet for officer and executive travel.
