These are N scale 3D printable files for the Budd Plan 9504 10-6 Sleeper, originally built for the Pennsylvania Railroad and later sold to the Chicago & North Western Railway for use as a sleeper in the CNW's executive business train. Available in two decal variants: PRR Scioto Rapids and Sturgeon Rapids and CNW 410.

The 10-6 configuration10 roomettes and 6 double bedrooms — was the definitive postwar American sleeping car layout, developed by the Budd Company and widely adopted across the industry in the late 1940s and 1950s. The roomette provided a compact private room for a single passenger with a fold-down bed, while the double bedroom offered a larger private space for two, with its own enclosed toilet facilities. The combination of 10 roomettes and 6 double bedrooms in a single carbody struck the ideal balance between capacity and privacy that defined the postwar streamliner sleeping car experience, and the 10-6 became the most common sleeping car type on American railroads during the golden age of the streamliner.

The two decal variants tell a two-railroad story:

  • PRR Scioto Rapids and Sturgeon Rapids — the cars in their original Pennsylvania Railroad passenger service, finished in the PRR's distinctive scheme of fluted stainless steel sides with Tuscan Red applied to the letterboard and herald area and a black roof — a livery that combined the modern industrial elegance of Budd's stainless steel construction with the PRR's traditional corporate color in a striking and immediately recognizable combination. The Scioto Rapids and Sturgeon Rapids carried the PRR's river-themed sleeping car names, typical of PRR nomenclature, and served on the railroad's premier passenger trains connecting New York and Philadelphia with Chicago and the Midwest.
  • CNW 410 (1st) — one of the PRR cars after its sale to the Chicago & North Western Railway, renumbered as CNW 410 and repurposed as a sleeper for the CNW's executive business train. The conversion of a former revenue sleeping car into business train service was a practical and economical way for railroads to add overnight accommodation to their executive consists, and CNW 410 represents this second chapter in the car's working life — from carrying fare-paying passengers on the PRR to serving CNW officers and guests in the railroad's private executive fleet.
