The Iowa River — named for the Iowa River, which flows through the heart of the Chicago & North Western's territory in central Iowa — was no ordinary business car. As a presentation car, it was specifically fitted and furnished to serve as a mobile boardroom and showcase, used by CNW leadership to host board members, executives, and distinguished guests for formal presentations, business meetings, and line inspection trips conducted in an environment befitting the railroad's most senior decision-makers.
