These are 1/72 scale decals for Cavalier F-51D Mustang 67-22579, operated by the United States Air Force under Project Peace Condor, wearing an overall ADC Gray (FS 16473) scheme.
Project Peace Condor was a U.S. Military Assistance Program (MAP) initiative to supply refurbished Mustangs to the Bolivian Air Force (Fuerza Aérea Boliviana) in the late 1960s. The aircraft were rebuilt and modernized by Cavalier Aircraft Corporation of Sarasota, Florida — a company that had made a business of taking surplus WWII-era Mustang airframes and bringing them up to a contemporary standard with updated avionics, a taller tail fin, wingtip tanks, and other improvements. The Cavalier Mustang was a genuinely capable light attack aircraft by late-1960s standards, and MAP recipients valued it for its simplicity, ruggedness, and firepower.
Serial 67-22579 wears USAF markings and the overall ADC Gray scheme applied during the delivery and evaluation phase before transfer to Bolivia — a clean, understated finish that makes the large "U.S. AIR FORCE" fuselage titling and national insignia stand out sharply. Includes two serial options: 67-22579 and 67-23579.
A fascinating Cold War military assistance subject and a distinctive late-life Mustang variant for any USAF or MAP collection. Please allow some time for decal printing and shipping.
