These are 1/72 scale decals for the Cessna L-19A Bird Dog operated by No. 1913 Light Liaison Flight, Royal Air Force, in Korea — loaned from the U.S. Army to serve as a VIP transport for Admiral of the Fleet Sir Rhoderick McGrigor, First Sea Lord of the Royal Navy.
No. 1913 Light Liaison Flight was the RAF's dedicated liaison aviation unit during the Korean War, operating U.S.-supplied L-19A Bird Dogs in support of British Commonwealth forces. The loan of this aircraft for the personal use of Sir Rhoderick McGrigor — the professional head of the Royal Navy and one of Britain's most senior military officers — underscores the Bird Dog's versatility and the close Anglo-American cooperation that characterized Commonwealth operations in Korea.
McGrigor, a distinguished veteran of both World Wars, visited Korea during his tenure as First Sea Lord to assess the Royal Navy's contribution to the conflict, including carrier operations off the Korean coast. His transport in a modest U.S. Army liaison aircraft is a wonderfully understated footnote in the history of British involvement in the Korean War.
The aircraft is finished overall in Olive Drab. Please allow some time for decal printing and shipping.
