Cessna OA-37B Dragonfly 73-1098 Illinois Air National Guard

These are 1/72 scale decals for the Cessna OA-37B Dragonfly 73-1098, assigned to the 169th Tactical Air Support Squadron, Illinois Air National Guard, based at Capital Airport, Springfield, Illinois.

The OA-37B was a dedicated forward air control variant of the combat-proven A-37B Dragonfly, optimized for the FAC mission with additional radios and observation equipment while retaining the type's inherent light attack capability. The 169th TASS was one of the Air National Guard's premier tactical air support units, with its citizen-airmen flying the OA-37B in the demanding low-altitude FAC role — locating enemy forces, marking targets, and coordinating airstrikes in direct support of ground troops.

The OA-37B represented a significant upgrade over the O-1 and O-2 Bird Dogs and Skymasters it replaced, bringing jet performance to the FAC mission and giving controllers the speed to survive in increasingly threatening airspace.
