Cessna OE-2 VMO-6 United States Marine Corps

These are 1/72 scale decals for the Cessna OE-2 Bird Dog, operated by VMO-6 (Marine Observation Squadron 6), United States Marine Corps.

The OE-2 was the Marine Corps' designation for the improved L-19E variant of the Bird Dog, featuring the more powerful Continental O-470-11 engine that gave it enhanced performance over the earlier OE-1. VMO-6 operated both the OE-1 and OE-2 in the low-altitude observation, artillery spotting, and forward air control roles in direct support of Marine ground forces — a mission at the heart of the Corps' integrated air-ground combat doctrine.

The striking Field Green and White scheme worn by this aircraft is a visually distinctive departure from the Olive Drab of the earlier VMO-6 OE-1, reflecting evolving USMC marking practices of the period.
