These are N scale 3D printable files for the Chicago Transit Authority (CTA) 2200 Series rapid transit car — a landmark in Chicago 'L' history as both the first stainless steel cars ever operated on the system and the last 'L' cars equipped with the distinctive "blinker" doors, built by the Budd Company in 1969. Designed to fit on a Tomytec TM-04/TM-20 motorized chassis.

The 2200 series holds a unique place in CTA history, sitting at the intersection of two eras. On one hand, it introduced stainless steel carbody construction to the Chicago 'L' for the first time — the Budd Company, renowned for its stainless steel passenger car work on railroads across America, brought the same fluted stainless steel technology to rapid transit with the 2200 series, establishing a material standard that would carry through to the later 2400 series and 3200 series cars. On the other hand, the 2200 series retained the "blinker" doors — the distinctive folding plug doors that had characterized earlier generations of Chicago 'L' equipment — making these the last cars on the system to use this mechanism before subsequent orders transitioned to sliding doors. The combination of a thoroughly modern stainless steel carbody with the traditional blinker door makes the 2200 series a transitional car in the truest sense, and a favorite among Chicago transit enthusiasts.
