The A-3B Skywarrior — affectionately known throughout the fleet as the “Whale” — was the Navy's premier carrier-based nuclear strike aircraft of the Cold War era, designed to deliver strategic weapons deep into the Soviet Union from the deck of an aircraft carrier. Its sheer size made it one of the most imposing aircraft ever to operate from a carrier flight deck.
