These are 1/72 scale decals for Douglas TF-10B Skyknight 124630, operated by the United States Army for Army Air Defense, wearing a striking scheme of International Orange (FS 12197) and White (FS 17925) with Flat Black (FS 37038) anti-glare panels and bold "ARMY" fuselage titling.

The TF-10B was a two-seat trainer variant of the Douglas F3D Skyknight — a portly, radar-equipped Navy night fighter that had distinguished itself in Korea as the first jet aircraft to shoot down another jet at night. That the U.S. Army operated Skyknights at all is one of the more surprising footnotes of Cold War aviation history. The Army used the TF-10B for Army Air Defense training — specifically to familiarize Army air defense personnel with the radar signatures, flight profiles, and electronic characteristics of jet aircraft, supporting the Army's ground-based air defense mission at a time when the threat of Soviet jet bombers was the defining concern of American defense planning.

The vivid International Orange and White scheme with "ARMY" titling and the Army Aviation and Army Air Defense insignia on the decal sheet make this one of the most visually arresting and historically improbable subjects in the ootbModels range — a Navy night fighter wearing Army colors. Serial 124630 with modex 4630. Includes two serial size options.

A genuine oddball and a must-have for any Cold War Army aviation or cross-service collection. Please allow some time for decal printing and shipping.
