These are N scale 3D printable files for the EMC EB — the cabless booster unit of the B&O's EMC EA/EB locomotive fleet, and a type exclusive to the Baltimore & Ohio Railroad (B&O) — the only railroad ever to operate the EB. The B&O rostered 6 EA cab units and 6 EB booster units. Designed to fit on a Kato E unit donor mechanism.

The EMC EA and EB were produced by the Electro-Motive Corporation (EMC) — the predecessor to Electro-Motive Division (EMD) — as streamlined passenger locomotive units in the early E unit lineage. The EA was the cab unit (A unit), while the EB was the cabless booster unit (B unit), designed to run paired with an EA to provide additional power on heavy passenger trains. The EB was operated exclusively by the B&O — every EMC EB ever built wore B&O livery throughout its entire service life. The EA was nearly as exclusive: five of the six EAs remained with the B&O for their entire careers, but B&O EA #52 was sold to the Alton Railroad in 1940, and when the Alton was absorbed into the Gulf, Mobile & Ohio Railroad (GM&O) in 1947, the locomotive passed into the GM&O fleet — making it the sole EA ever to operate under a railroad other than the B&O.

The B&O operated its EA/EB fleet on the railroad's premier passenger services connecting Baltimore, Washington D.C., and Chicago, including the celebrated Capitol Limited — the same corridor served by the B&O's E6B fleet represented in the companion EMC E6B – B&O listing from Out of the Box Models. See also the companion EMC EA listing for the cab unit version.

This shell is designed to fit on a Kato E unit donor mechanism. The Fully Painted and Decaled Model option requires a donor mechanism supplied by the customer.
