These are N scale 3D printable files for the EMD E6B — the cabless booster version of the Electro-Motive Division E6, a prewar and early wartime passenger locomotive produced between 1939 and 1942. Available in two decal variants: No Decals and B&O #2407. Designed to fit on a Kato E unit donor mechanism.
The EMD E6 was produced by Electro-Motive Division in the years immediately preceding and during the early part of World War II, representing the penultimate prewar E unit design before the postwar E7 that would go on to dominate American passenger railroading. The E6B is the cabless booster unit, designed to run paired with an E6A cab unit to provide additional power on heavy passenger trains. The E6's streamlined carbody and reliable EMD prime mover made it a capable and attractive locomotive for the passenger services of the era, and its prewar production run gives it a distinct historical identity from the more numerous postwar E7.
The B&O decal variant represents the Baltimore & Ohio Railroad E6B numbered 2407, in the B&O's distinctive passenger livery on services including the celebrated Capitol Limited between Washington D.C., Baltimore, and Chicago — one of the most prestigious passenger train routes on the eastern seaboard.
The No Decals variant provides an undecorated shell for modelers who wish to apply their own railroad's markings or paint scheme.
This shell is designed to fit on a Kato E unit donor mechanism. The Fully Painted and Decaled Model option requires a donor mechanism supplied by the customer.
