These are N scale 3D printable files for the EMD E7B — the cabless booster version of the Electro-Motive Division E7, one of the most successful and widely operated passenger locomotive types of the postwar streamliner era. Available in five decal variants: No Decals, PRR, CRIP (Silver), CRIP (Maroon), and NYC. Designed to fit on a Kato E unit donor mechanism.
The EMD E7 was produced by Electro-Motive Division between 1945 and 1949 and became the dominant passenger locomotive of the immediate postwar era, powering named streamliners across virtually every major American railroad. The E7B is the cabless booster unit — designed to run in the middle or rear of a locomotive consist, providing additional power without a duplicate cab, and typically paired with one or more E7A cab units in A-B or A-B-A configurations on heavy passenger trains. The E7's smooth, streamlined carbody and reliable EMD 567 prime mover made it the workhorse of American passenger railroading through the late 1940s and 1950s.
The five decal variants represent the E7B across several of its most notable operators:
- No Decals — an undecorated shell for modelers who wish to apply their own railroad's markings or paint scheme.
- PRR — Pennsylvania Railroad: the E7B in the PRR's Tuscan Red passenger livery — the deep, rich red that was the Pennsylvania Railroad's signature color for its passenger locomotive fleet, applied here to the E7B on the PRR's premier passenger services including the Broadway Limited and Congressional.
- CRIP (Silver) — Chicago, Rock Island & Pacific: the E7B numbered 632B in the Rock Island's silver passenger livery, representing the later color scheme applied to the Rock Island's passenger fleet.
- CRIP (Maroon) — Chicago, Rock Island & Pacific: the E7B numbered 607 in the Rock Island's earlier maroon passenger livery — the two CRIP variants together allow modelers to represent the Rock Island's E7 fleet across two distinct livery eras.
- NYC — New York Central: the E7B numbered 4102 in the New York Central's two-tone gray passenger livery, representing the NYC's E7 fleet on the Water Level Route between New York and Chicago.
This shell is designed to fit on a Kato E unit donor mechanism. The Fully Painted and Decaled Model option requires a donor mechanism supplied by the customer.
