FM Erie Built A Unit PRR Version

These are N scale 3D printable files for the Pennsylvania Railroad (PRR) Fairbanks-Morse Erie-Built A Unit, numbered 9456A–9491A, finished in the PRR's classic Brunswick Green locomotive livery. Designed to fit on a Kato PA donor mechanism.

The Fairbanks-Morse Erie-Built was a distinctive cab unit locomotive produced by Fairbanks-Morse in the late 1940s, sharing its carbody design with the General Electric Erie-Built — a wide, rounded nose with a distinctive twin-headlight face that gave the Erie-Built an immediately recognizable appearance quite unlike the more common EMD and Alco cab unit designs of the era. The Pennsylvania Railroad rostered a substantial fleet of these locomotives, numbered in the 9456A–9491A series, making the PRR one of the larger Erie-Built operators in the country.

The PRR's Erie-Builts were finished in the railroad's signature Brunswick Green — the deep, rich dark green that was the Pennsylvania Railroad's standard locomotive color for much of its history, applied here to the Erie-Built's distinctive rounded carbody and giving the locomotives a formal, authoritative appearance well-suited to the PRR's identity as the self-styled "Standard Railroad of the World." The combination of the Erie-Built's unusual styling and the PRR's Brunswick Green livery makes these among the most visually distinctive diesel cab units of the late steam-to-diesel transition era.

This shell is designed to fit on a Kato PA donor mechanism. The Fully Painted and Decaled Model option requires a donor mechanism supplied by the customer.
