These are 1/72 scale decals for the Helio U-5B Twin Courier, operated by the Central Intelligence Agency — a CIA-specific variant of the Twin Courier family used for clandestine operations during the Cold War.
The Helio U-5B was a further development of the Twin Courier line, retaining the exceptional short-field performance that made the entire Helio family so valuable for covert operations. With full-span leading-edge slats and outstanding low-speed handling, the U-5B could operate from jungle clearings, highland strips, and remote dirt tracks that were inaccessible to virtually any other twin-engine aircraft — exactly the kind of access the CIA needed in denied and contested areas.
Unlike the U-5A, which carried a USAF designation reflecting joint military use, the U-5B was operated directly by the CIA's Air Branch and its proprietary aviation assets, placing it firmly in the world of covert logistics, agent insertion, and clandestine resupply. Throughout Southeast Asia and beyond, aircraft like the U-5B moved people and materiel in and out of locations that appeared on no official flight plan — the unsung workhorses of America's shadow war.
A companion piece to the U-5A and a genuinely rare subject in any scale, the CIA-operated U-5B is a must for collectors focused on Cold War special operations and intelligence aviation. Please allow some time for decal printing and shipping.
