These are 1/72 scale decals for the LTV A-7D Corsair II, serial 69-6189, assigned to the 310th Tactical Fighter Training Squadron of the United States Air Force — one of the dedicated training units responsible for producing combat-ready Corsair II pilots for the USAF.
The A-7D Corsair II was the Air Force's land-based derivative of the Navy's A-7, and a significant leap forward in tactical attack capability. Equipped with the AlliedSignal TF41 turbofan engine, an M61 Vulcan 20mm cannon, and one of the most advanced navigation and weapons delivery systems of its era — including an inertial navigation system and head-up display — the A-7D could deliver ordnance with a precision that set it apart from its contemporaries. It served with distinction in the closing years of the Vietnam War and remained a frontline USAF attack aircraft well into the 1980s.
The 310th Tactical Fighter Training Squadron was assigned to the 58th Tactical Fighter Wing at Luke Air Force Base, Arizona — the USAF's primary A-7D pilot training base. Tasked with transitioning pilots onto the Corsair II and preparing them for assignment to operational units worldwide, the 310th and its sister squadrons at Luke were the backbone of the Air Force's tactical aviation readiness, ensuring front-line units received pilots fully qualified in the aircraft's complex avionics and weapons systems.
A classic USAF attack aviation subject from the Vietnam and Cold War era. Please allow some time for decal printing and shipping.
