LTV A-7D 72-0180 Ohio Air National Guard 1

These are 1/72 scale decals for the LTV A-7D Corsair II, serial 72-0180, assigned to the 180th Tactical Fighter Group of the Ohio Air National Guard — one of the Great Lakes region's frontline Guard attack units during the Cold War era.

The A-7D Corsair II was the USAF's premier land-based tactical attack aircraft of the 1970s and 80s, combining the TF41 turbofan engine, M61 Vulcan 20mm cannon, and a state-of-the-art navigation and weapons delivery system — including an inertial navigation system and head-up display — into a platform capable of delivering ordnance with exceptional precision. The A-7D saw combat in Vietnam and remained a cornerstone of both active-duty and Air National Guard attack aviation for over a decade.

The 180th Tactical Fighter Group, based at Toledo Express Airport, Swanton, Ohio, was the flying component of the Ohio ANG's premier tactical air unit. Operating the A-7D Corsair II, the 180th maintained full wartime readiness alongside active-duty USAF attack squadrons, ready to deploy in support of NATO commitments in Europe or other contingencies at short notice. The Ohio ANG's Corsair IIs were a proud symbol of the Guard's essential role in America's Cold War defense posture.
