These are 1/72 scale decals for the LTV A-7D Corsair II, serial 72-0180, assigned to the 180th Tactical Fighter Group of the Ohio Air National Guard — this version featuring the unit's striking oversized hornet tail art, one of the more eye-catching markings schemes carried by an Ohio ANG Corsair II.

The A-7D Corsair II was the USAF's premier land-based tactical attack aircraft of the 1970s and 80s, combining the TF41 turbofan engine, M61 Vulcan 20mm cannon, and a state-of-the-art navigation and weapons delivery system — including an inertial navigation system and head-up display — into a platform capable of delivering ordnance with exceptional precision. The A-7D saw combat in Vietnam and remained a cornerstone of both active-duty and Air National Guard attack aviation for over a decade.

The 180th Tactical Fighter Group, based at Toledo Express Airport, Swanton, Ohio, was the flying component of the Ohio ANG's premier tactical air unit. The giant hornet emblazoned on the tail of 72-0180 reflects the proud unit identity that Guard squadrons often expressed through distinctive nose art and tail markings — a tradition that set their aircraft apart from the more uniform appearance of active-duty fleets.

A companion piece to the standard-scheme version of the same airframe, and a must-have for collectors who appreciate the colorful tail art that made Guard aviation so visually distinctive. Please allow some time for decal printing and shipping.
