These are N scale 3D printable files for the CB&Q NE-12 Waycar as modified by the Burlington Northern Railroad (BN) and further modified in its final configuration as Montana Rail Link (MRL) #1002 — a caboose with a three-railroad provenance tracing the consolidation of the northern transcontinental railroad network from the Burlington Route through the BN merger era to the independent Montana Rail Link.

The car was originally built as a Chicago, Burlington & Quincy Railroad (CB&Q) NE-12 Waycar — the CB&Q's designation for its caboose fleet, reflecting the Burlington's tradition of calling its cabooses "waycars" rather than cabooses. Following the 1970 Burlington Northern merger that combined the CB&Q with the Great Northern, Northern Pacific, and Spokane, Portland & Seattle railroads, the car passed into the Burlington Northern fleet and was modified by BN during its ownership. When Montana Rail Link was formed in 1987 to operate the former BN mainline across Montana, the car was transferred to MRL and further modified, ultimately serving as MRL #1002 on the railroad's operations across the dramatic mountain terrain of the Northern Rockies and the Clark Fork River corridor.
