These are 1/72 scale decals for the North American F-86A Sabre, serial 49-1236, assigned to the 334th Fighter Interceptor Squadron of the United States Air Force — one of the legendary units that flew the Sabre during the early jet age and the Korean War era.

The F-86A Sabre was America's first swept-wing jet fighter and the aircraft that established U.S. air superiority over the skies of Korea. Powered by a General Electric J47 turbojet and armed with six .50-caliber M2 Browning machine guns, the F-86A was a quantum leap over the straight-wing jets that preceded it. In the hands of skilled pilots, it proved a match for the Soviet-built MiG-15 over "MiG Alley," and the Sabre's combat record in Korea cemented its place as one of the most important fighter aircraft in aviation history.

The 334th Fighter Interceptor Squadron, part of the storied 4th Fighter Interceptor Wing, was one of the USAF's premier Sabre units and among the first to take the F-86 into combat over Korea. Based at K-14 Kimpo Air Base during the war, the 334th produced numerous aces and played a central role in the air-to-air battles that defined the first jet-versus-jet air war in history. The squadron's lineage traces back to World War II, where it flew P-47s and P-51s over Europe as part of the 4th Fighter Group — itself built around the famous Eagle Squadrons.
