These are 1/72 scale decals for the North American SNJ-5 Texan, BuNo 12508, assigned to Utility Squadron Ten (VU-10), stationed at Naval Air Station Guantanamo Bay, Cuba — a classic Navy trainer operating in one of the most strategically significant and enduring U.S. naval installations in the world.

The SNJ-5 was the U.S. Navy's designation for the AT-6G Texan, the definitive variant of North American's legendary advanced trainer. Known to virtually every Allied air force of World War II, the Texan trained more military pilots than any other aircraft in history — earning it the nickname "the Pilot Maker." Rugged, forgiving, and demanding enough to prepare pilots for the transition to frontline combat aircraft, the SNJ remained in Navy service well into the postwar era, serving utility and training roles long after more modern types had taken over primary instruction duties.

Utility Squadron Ten (VU-10) was a fleet support unit tasked with providing target towing, drone operations, and utility services to fleet units operating in the Caribbean. Based at NAS Guantanamo Bay — the U.S. Navy's oldest overseas base, situated on the southeastern tip of Cuba — VU-10's SNJ-5s supported the intensive fleet training exercises that made "GITMO" one of the most important operational readiness facilities in the Atlantic Fleet, where ships and their crews were put through rigorous workups before deployment.

A charming and historically rich subject combining one of aviation's most beloved trainers with one of the Navy's most storied overseas stations. Please allow some time for decal printing and shipping.
