These are N scale 3D printable files for the Pullman Plan 51908 100-Seat Commuter Coach — a unique and road-specific passenger car built by the Pullman Company exclusively for the Chicago, Rock Island and Pacific Railroad (the Rock Island), numbered in the 2700–2719 series. Available in two livery variants: Green (early scheme) and Red (later scheme). The model uses 33" wheels, prototypically accurate for this car.

The Pullman Plan 51908 was a purpose-designed high-density commuter coach built to the Rock Island's specific requirements for its busy Chicago suburban commuter operations. With 100 seats, this car was configured to maximize passenger capacity for the short-haul, high-frequency commuter runs that were a critical part of the Rock Island's business — carrying workers between Chicago's LaSalle Street Station and the railroad's suburban communities stretching southwest through Blue Island, Joliet, and beyond. The high seating density of the Plan 51908 reflected the practical demands of commuter service, where maximizing the number of passengers per car was far more important than the comfort amenities expected on long-distance intercity trains.

The two livery options capture the car across two distinct eras of Rock Island commuter service:

  • Green — the early livery in which the 2700-series cars were delivered, representing the Rock Island's commuter equipment in its original color scheme.
  • Red — the later livery reflecting the Rock Island's updated passenger color scheme, as the railroad modernized its image in the postwar era.

The Rock Island operated one of the most extensive commuter rail networks in the Chicago metropolitan area, serving the southwest suburbs with frequent service that made it an essential part of daily life for thousands of Chicagoland commuters. The Plan 51908 coaches were the workhorses of that operation — unglamorous, purpose-built, and entirely absent from the commercial N scale market, making this model an essential and prototypically accurate piece for any Rock Island commuter layout.
