These are N scale 3D printable files for the Pullman Plan 53194 161-Seat Gallery Coach — the intermediate trailer coach designed to pair with the Pullman Plan 53194 Gallery Cab Car (also available from Out of the Box Models) to build a complete and prototypically accurate Chicago area gallery car consist. Available in six livery variants: CNW, RI (Rock Island), RTA, Metra White, Metra Blue, and Metra Bike Car.

The Pullman Plan 53194 gallery coach is the workhorse of the Chicago commuter gallery car consist — the intermediate car marshaled in multiples between the locomotive and the cab car, carrying the bulk of the train's 161 passengers in the distinctive bi-level gallery configuration unique to Chicago area commuter railroading. The gallery car design — in which an open upper gallery overlooks the lower deck, with doors at floor level for fast station loading — was developed specifically for the intense peak-hour demands of Chicago's commuter lines and became the defining visual identity of Chicago area commuter rail for generations. A prototypically accurate gallery car consist requires multiple coaches, making this the essential building block of any Chicago commuter layout.

The six livery options trace the car's full ownership history across Chicago commuter railroad history:

  • CNW (Chicago & North Western) — the original owner, operating these cars on its northwest and west suburban lines out of Chicago's Ogilvie Transportation Center.
  • RI (Rock Island) — the other original operator, running gallery coaches on its southwest suburban lines out of LaSalle Street Station.
  • RTA (Regional Transportation Authority) — the cars in RTA livery as the regional authority assumed oversight of Chicago area commuter operations in the financially troubled 1970s and early 1980s.
  • Metra White — the cars in Metra's original white-based livery following the creation of Metra in 1984.
  • Metra Blue — the cars in Metra's updated blue livery, the scheme most familiar to contemporary Chicago area commuters.
  • Metra Bike Car — a specially configured gallery coach modified to accommodate bicycles alongside passengers, reflecting Metra's later-era efforts to integrate cycling with commuter rail and a unique and prototypically accurate variant that adds operational interest to any modern-era Metra consist.

Pair with the Pullman Plan 53194 Gallery Cab Car also available from Out of the Box Models to complete your consist.
