These are N scale 3D printable files for the Pullman Plan W60346 96-Seat Gallery Coach — originally built for the Chicago & North Western Railway's celebrated "400" series of long-distance passenger trains, and later acquired by AMTK where these cars continued in service in two distinct livery phases. Available in three decal variants: CNW, AMTK Phase I, and AMTK Phase III.
The Pullman Plan W60346 was a 96-seat bi-level gallery coach purpose-built for the CNW's 400 series — a family of named streamlined passenger trains connecting Chicago with destinations across Wisconsin, Minnesota, and the upper Midwest, named for their ambitious scheduling that aimed to cover 400 miles in 400 minutes. The gallery car design — with its distinctive open upper gallery overlooking the lower deck, and doors at floor level for fast station loading — gave the CNW's 400 trains a modern, high-capacity appearance that set them apart from conventional single-level intercity equipment. The 96-seat configuration, lower than the high-density commuter gallery cars, reflected the more comfortable seating standards expected on the 400's longer-distance intercity runs.
When AMTK assumed operation of most American intercity passenger rail service in 1971, it acquired the former CNW gallery coaches, which continued in service in AMTK markings across two livery phases:
- CNW — the cars in their original Chicago & North Western livery as operated on the 400 series trains, numbered in the 700–709 series.
- AMTK Phase I — the cars in AMTK's original Phase I livery, numbered in the 9611–9620 series, representing the cars in the early AMTK paint scheme applied following acquisition from the CNW.
- AMTK Phase III — the cars in AMTK's later Phase III livery, numbered in the 9615–9620 series, representing the cars as they appeared in AMTK's updated color scheme in later years of service.
A small number of these cars were also converted by AMTK into cab control cars — the AMTK Gallery Cab Car (9621–9624), also available from Out of the Box Models — making the W60346 coach the essential companion piece for modeling either the CNW 400 era or AMTK operations with this distinctive equipment.
