These are 1/72 scale decals for the Sikorsky UH-19B Chickasaw, serial 51-3928, assigned to the Air Force Helicopter School, United States Air Force — a primary training helicopter from the institution responsible for producing the USAF's first generation of military helicopter pilots.

The UH-19B Chickasaw was the USAF's utility transport variant of the Sikorsky S-55, powered by a nose-mounted Pratt & Whitney R-1340 Wasp radial engine that gave the type its distinctive profile and freed the fuselage for an unobstructed cabin. Rugged, reliable, and forgiving enough for student pilots while demanding enough to build genuine rotary-wing proficiency, the UH-19 was a natural choice as the USAF's primary helicopter trainer during the early 1950s — a period when the service was building its helicopter pilot training infrastructure essentially from scratch.

The Air Force Helicopter School, based at Gary Air Force Base, Texas, was the USAF's dedicated rotary-wing training establishment, responsible for transitioning fixed-wing pilots onto helicopters and developing the curriculum, standards, and techniques that would define USAF helicopter operations for decades. At a time when helicopter aviation was still a young and rapidly evolving discipline, the instructors and students of the Air Force Helicopter School were writing the book on military rotary-wing flight — producing the pilots who would go on to fly combat rescue, utility, and special operations missions across the globe.

A historically significant training subject representing the formative years of USAF helicopter aviation. Please allow some time for decal printing and shipping.
