These are N scale 3D printable files for Sperry Rail Services Inspection Car SRSX 136 — one of the most recognizable and important pieces of maintenance-of-way equipment in North American railroad history. Designed to fit a Tomytec TM-TR02 mechanism at one end.

Sperry Rail Services has been the dominant provider of ultrasonic rail flaw detection services in North America since the company was founded by Dr. Elmer Sperry — the same prolific inventor behind the gyrocompass and gyroscopic stabilizers — in the 1920s. The core mission of a Sperry car is deceptively simple but critically important: to find the invisible internal cracks, transverse fissures, and metal fatigue defects inside railroad rails before they cause a catastrophic failure. A broken rail under a loaded freight train or a passenger express is one of the most dangerous events in railroading, and Sperry's ultrasonic detection technology has prevented countless derailments over the decades.

The Sperry inspection cars travel over railroad tracks at slow speed, sending ultrasonic pulses down through the rail and analyzing the returning signals for anomalies that indicate internal defects invisible to the naked eye. When a suspect location is found, the car marks the rail with a paint spot and the railroad's maintenance crews follow up to inspect and replace the defective section. The cars operate on virtually every major railroad in North America, contracted out by Sperry to inspect thousands of miles of track each year.

SRSX 136 wears the classic Sperry yellow livery with bold "SPERRY RAIL SERVICE" lettering — one of the most instantly recognizable paint schemes on the North American railroad network. A Sperry car passing through a yard or creeping along the main line at inspection speed is a familiar and reassuring sight to railroaders everywhere, a quiet reminder that someone is checking the track beneath their wheels.
