These are 1/72 scale decals for Vought AU-1 Corsair 129411, assigned to Aircraft Engineering Squadron 12 (AES-12) at Marine Corps Air Station Quantico, Virginia, wearing Light Gull Gray (FS 36440) over Insignia White (FS 17875) with bold "MARINES" fuselage titling, modex 411, and tail code 9411.

The AU-1 was a dedicated ground attack variant of the Corsair, developed specifically for the U.S. Marine Corps close air support mission. Where the F4U-4 and F4U-5 were optimized for high-altitude fighter and fighter-bomber work, the AU-1 was purpose-built for low-altitude attack — fitted with a single-stage supercharger tuned for maximum power at low level, additional armor protection for the pilot and engine, and twelve underwing hardpoints capable of carrying up to 4,600 lbs of ordnance. It was the most heavily armed and armored Corsair variant ever built, and it flew combat missions in Korea with the Marines before transitioning to reserve and support roles.

Aircraft Engineering Squadron 12 (AES-12) at MCAS Quantico was a Marine Corps maintenance and engineering unit responsible for aircraft upkeep, modification, and technical support — the kind of behind-the-scenes organization that kept the Corps' aircraft flying. The Light Gull Gray over White scheme with bold "MARINES" titling and the Department of Aviation USMC and AES-12 patches on the decal sheet make this a clean and striking postwar Corsair subject. Includes two modex and serial size options: 411 and 129411.

A rare and often overlooked Corsair variant in distinctive USMC support squadron markings. Please allow some time for decal printing and shipping.
