These are 1/72 scale decals for the Vought V-354 Two-Seat Corsair Trainer, operated by the United States Navy Bureau of Aeronautics, wearing overall Gloss Sea Blue (ANA 623) with white star-and-bar national insignia in four sizes.
The V-354 was a unique one-off conversion of the Vought F4U Corsair into a two-seat trainer configuration, developed by Chance Vought Aircraft to address the Navy's need for a dedicated transition trainer that could familiarize pilots with the Corsair's demanding handling characteristics before they flew the single-seat combat variant. The Corsair had earned a reputation as a challenging aircraft to fly — its powerful R-2800 engine, long nose, and distinctive stall behavior made it unforgiving for inexperienced pilots, and carrier qualification in the type was particularly demanding. A two-seat version that allowed an instructor to ride along and intervene was a logical solution.
Only a single V-354 was built, making it one of the rarest Corsair variants in existence. The overall Gloss Sea Blue scheme with the Bureau of Aeronautics roundel and Naval Aviator wings on the decal sheet place it firmly in the mid-to-late 1940s evaluation period. The white star-and-bar insignia in four sizes — two wing and two fuselage — are the only markings on an otherwise clean, dark airframe. Includes two insignia size options.
A genuine one-of-a-kind Corsair variant — an essential subject for any Corsair, USN trainer, or rare prototype collection. Please allow some time for decal printing and shipping.
