These are 1/72 scale decals for Vought VE-7G A5699, assigned to Observation Squadron 6 (VO-6) aboard USS New York (BB-34), wearing Silver Dope overall with Chrome Yellow (FS 13538) wing upper surfaces, the distinctive red, white, and blue tail stripes of VO-6, and modex 6/4 with "USS NEW YORK" fuselage titling.

The VE-7G was the floatplane observation variant of the VE-7, fitted with twin EDO floats for catapult launch and water recovery operations from battleships and cruisers. Observation Squadron 6 (VO-6) was the organic aviation unit assigned to USS New York (BB-34) — one of the U.S. Navy's New York-class battleships — providing the ship with aerial spotting for gunfire, scouting, and liaison missions. Battleship floatplane aviation was a critical component of interwar naval doctrine, extending the eyes of the fleet far beyond the horizon and allowing capital ships to direct accurate long-range gunfire against targets they could not directly observe.

The Chrome Yellow wing upper surfaces — applied to improve visibility for recovery at sea — combined with the Silver Dope fuselage, the bold "USS NEW YORK" titling, and the VO-6 tail stripes make this one of the most colorful and evocative interwar floatplane subjects in the ootbModels range. The Naval Aviator wings and VO-6 Observation Squadron patch are included on the decal sheet. Includes four national insignia in two sizes and two modex size options: 6/4 in two sizes.

A natural companion to the Vought VE-7 AS64313 Army Air Service listing — the same basic type in two very different roles and services. Please allow some time for decal printing and shipping.
